Ethics

Ethics is the branch of philosophy that deals with questions about what is morally right and wrong, as well as the principles that govern an individual’s behavior and values. It involves the systematic examination of fundamental concepts such as good and evil, virtue and vice, justice and injustice, and the nature of moral duty. Ethics can be divided into several sub-disciplines, including normative ethics, which explores the standards for what constitutes moral actions; descriptive ethics, which observes and analyzes people’s beliefs about morality; and applied ethics, which applies ethical theory to specific practical issues, such as bioethics, environmental ethics, and business ethics. The goal of ethics is to provide a framework for understanding moral decision-making and to guide individuals in leading a good and just life.
